...She studied organ performance and composition at the Paris Conservatory, and won second place in the Prix de Rome in 1908. However, she devoted her life primarily to music education, serving as assistant harmony teacher at her alma mater (1909-24) and professor at the École Normale (1920-39). She also taught harmony and other subjects at the American Conservatory in Fontainebleau from 1921 onwards, and her pupils included A. Copland, R. Harris and W. Piston.
