「日本書紀」「古語拾遺」などに見える神。鍛冶(かじ)、金工の神。一つ目で、「古語拾遺」によれば、天照大神が天の岩屋戸に隠れた時、刀剣、斧(おの)、鉄鐸(さなき)などの祭具を作ったとされる。また「日本書紀」一書には、国譲りをした大己貴神(おおあなむちのかみ)を祭る際、作金者(かなだくみ)に任命されたとある。天津麻羅(あまつまら)と同神ともいう。天之麻比止都禰命(あまのまひとつねのみこと)。天久斯麻比止都命(あまのくしまひとつのみこと)。
