…Mysidacea is sometimes used as a general name for the order Mysidacea. The order Mysidacea is divided into the suborder Lophogastrida and the suborder Mysida. The former are large, deep-sea creatures, with only about 40 species, and are somewhat different in morphology and thought to have primitive characteristics. The latter has about 700 species, with about 150 species known from Japan, including the chum shrimp (illustration). …
