Park Kyu-ju

Japanese: 朴珪寿 - ぼくけいじゅ

An enlightened politician in the late Yi Dynasty of Korea. Born in Pannam. His pen names were Hwangyong and Hwangyong, and his pen names were Hwanjae and Hwanjae. His grandfather was Pak Jiwon, a Practical Scholar. He passed the examination for the Joseon Dynasty in 1848, and served as Minister of Rites, Minister of State for Pyeongan Affairs, and Right Councillor. He was especially valued after King Gojong ascended to the throne in 1864, and actively supported the domestic and foreign policies of Daewongun's government, such as the reconstruction of Gyeongbokgung Palace and the Sherman Incident (1866, the Western Expedition). However, after the Shinmi Expedition in 1871, he opposed Daewongun's policy of isolation and expulsion of foreigners, and after Daewongun resigned (1873), he actively advocated the restoration of diplomatic relations with Japan after the Meiji Restoration.

朝鮮，李朝末期の開明的政治家。潘南の人。字は桓卿，瓛卿，号は桓斎，瓛斎。祖父は実学者朴趾源（ぼくしげん）。1848年に増広試に合格し，同義禁，礼曹判書，平安監司，右議政などを歴任した。とくに高宗の即位(1864)以後重用され，景福宮の再建，シャーマン号事件(1866。洋擾（ようじよう）)など，大院君政権の内外政策を積極的に支えた。しかし，71年の辛未洋擾以後は，大院君の鎖国攘夷政策に反対し，大院君の下野(1873)以降は明治維新後の日本との国交回復を積極的に主張するにいたった。
