A Japanese monster. It is said to strip off the fire calluses (amame) that form when you sit too long on a hearth or brazier. In the folk event "Noto no Amamehagi" (a national important intangible folk cultural property) handed down in Ishikawa Prefecture, men wearing Tengu masks play this role to ward off disasters.
