Basket mushroom - Basket mushroom (English spelling) Ileodictyon gracile Berk.
A mushroom of the Basidiomycete Gastromycete family, family Acanthaceae (illustration). Roughly speaking, it is a member of the stinkhorn family, and at first resembles a reptile egg wrapped in soft skin, but the fruiting body that breaks through the skin has a common feature of producing a mass of dark, mucus-like spores with a strong foul odor. The fruiting body of the box mushroom is rounded and basket-shaped with 10 to 15 cages, rests on a dish-shaped open shell, is 4 to 5 cm in diameter, and is white. It grows on the ground in autumn in woodlands, but is somewhat rare. It is also known in Australia.
