A Chinese painter from the Five Dynasties Later Liang Dynasty (907-923). "Tong" can also be written as "Tong." He was from Chang'an (Shaanxi Province). He first studied under Jing Hao and excelled in large-scale landscape paintings, but later perfected a style of grand landscape painting using simple brushwork, which had a great influence on landscape painters of the Song Dynasty. His work is said to be "Autumn Mountains in Evening Green" (National Palace Museum, Taipei).
