Opium alkaloids

Also known as poppy alkaloids. A general term for alkaloids that are the main components of opium. Structurally, they contain part of the isoquinoline skeleton and belong to the isoquinoline alkaloids, but are further classified into morphine-type (morphine, codeine, etc.), papaverine-type (benzylisoquinoline type), and narcotine-type alkaloids. Morphine is the most representative, and exists in opium as a salt of meconic acid. Morphine-type alkaloids have sedative and analgesic effects, while papaverine-type and narcotine-type alkaloids have antispasmodic effects.

ケシアルカロイドともいう．アヘンの主成分をなすアルカロイドの総称．一般に，構造上はイソキノリンの骨格を一部に含み，イソキノリンアルカロイドに属するが，さらにモルヒネ系(モルヒネ，コデインなど)，パパベリン系(ベンジルイソキノリン型)，およびナルコチン系アルカロイドに分類される．モルヒネがもっとも代表的なもので，アヘン中にメコン酸の塩として存在している．モルヒネ系アルカロイドは，鎮静，鎮痛作用が，パパベリン系，ナルコチン系には，鎮痙作用がある．
