Abe no Oomaro

...The Nihon Shoki states that the family was descended from Emperor Kōgen's son, Ohiko, while the Kojiki states that the family was descended from Ohiko's son, Takenu-Nakawake. The Abe clan first appeared in politics with Abe Oomaro, who was appointed as a maetsugimi (a rank below minister and daimyo) under the Minister Soga no Iname during the reign of Emperor Senka. During the Taika Reforms, Abe Kurahashimaro was appointed as the Minister of the Left, probably because he was an elder in the political world and his daughter, Otarashihime, was the wife of Emperor Kōtoku.
