Granite (granite)

Japanese: 花コウ岩(花崗岩) - かこうがん（英語表記）granite

Among plutonic igneous rocks, plagioclase, potassium feldspar, and quartz refer to those in which the potassium feldspar content in the total length of the rocks is 35-90% by volume, and the quartz content in the feldspar + quartz is 20-60% by volume. They consist of plagioclase, potassium feldspar, quartz, and biotite, and may also contain amphibole and muscovite. They are coarse-grained and holocrystalline. As a stone material, granite and other coarse-grained plutonic rocks are called granite and are widely used. Well-known stone materials include Inada stone, Okazaki stone, and Mannari stone.

深成火成岩のうち，斜長石，カリ長石，石英について，全長石中のカリ長石量＝35～90容量％，長石＋石英中の石英量＝20～60容量％のものをいう。斜長石，カリ長石，石英，黒雲母からなり，そのほか角セン石，白雲母を含むことがある。粗粒，完晶質である。石材としては，花コウ岩のほか粗粒の深成岩を含めて御影石と呼ばれ，広く利用される。著名な石材に稲田石，岡崎石，万成石などがある。

　石英5容量％以上の深成火成岩を花コウ岩類という。
