Aburatsu

Japanese: 油津 - あぶらつ

A port town in Nichinan City in the southern part of Miyazaki Prefecture. Formerly known as Abutsu Town, it was the outer port of Obi, the castle town of Obi Domain. Even today, it is one of the prefecture's leading ports, handling timber products and serving as a fishing base for bonito and tuna. Obi cedar trees for ships were widely planted as a source of revenue for the Obi Domain, and the cedar timber was transported down the Hiroto River on rafts. The Horikawa Canal, opened in 1686 (Jokyo 3), was used to travel from the Hiroto River to Abutsu Port.

宮崎県南部、日南市(にちなんし)にある港町。旧油津町。飫肥(おび)藩の城下町飫肥の外港であった。現在も木材製品の取扱いや、カツオ、マグロの漁業基地として県下有数の港。船材用の飫肥杉は飫肥藩の財源として広く植林、杉材は広渡川筏(ひろとがわいかだ)下りで運ばれた。広渡川から油津港までは、1686年（貞享3）に開かれた堀川運河が利用された。
