Abitur - Abitur

In Germany, students can enter any university, faculty, or department of their choice without taking the university entrance exam by passing the Abitur, a university entrance qualification exam. The total score for the Abitur is 900 points (300 points or more is the passing mark) , of which 600 points are based on grades during schooling at a Gymnasium (Germany) (a secondary school that provides preparatory education for university entrance) . This evaluation method that fully takes into account grades during schooling is also a distinctive feature of the German university entrance system. For the remaining 300 points, students are given an exam in five subjects at the time of graduation from the Gymnasium. Four of the five subjects are written exams, and all of them are in the form of essay exams that require a long period of time and a fairly high level of thinking ability. The remaining subject is an oral exam that tests the ability to persuasively present one's opinion in front of others. The exam is held as a unified exam in each state (16 states) , but regardless of which state the qualification is obtained in, the qualification is valid throughout Germany. Once obtained, the qualification is valid for life.
