Mr. Okura - Okurauji

Japanese: 大蔵氏 - おおくらうじ

There are several branches of this clan, but the most famous is the clan that flourished in Kyushu in ancient and medieval times. The Yamato no Ayauji clan, descendants of the immigrant Achi no Omi, were given the title of Okura when they were put in charge of the Otreasury (financial institution) of the Yamato Imperial Court. During the Tenkei era (938-947), Okura Haruzane went to Kyushu as an envoy to pursue Fujiwara no Sumitomo's rebellion. Since then, his descendants have expanded their influence throughout Kyushu as officials of the Dazaifu, with his grandson Tanezai playing an active role in the Toi invasions. In the late Heian period, Okura (Harada) Tanenao, who was connected to the Taira government, was appointed as the Dazaifu Shoni, and many of the clan's members held important positions in the Dazaifu and boasted of their influence, but the clan fell into decline with the downfall of the Taira clan.

数流あるが最も著名なのは古代･中世に九州で繁栄した一族。渡来人阿知使主（あちのおみ）の子孫という倭漢氏（やまとのあやうじ）が大和朝廷の大蔵(財政機関)を預かったことにより大蔵を称するようになる。天慶年中(938‐947)，藤原純友の乱に追討使として大蔵春実が九州に下向して以来，孫種材が刀伊の入寇に活躍するなど，その子孫は大宰府の官人として九州管内の各地に勢力をのばした。平安末期，平氏政権と結びついた大蔵(原田)種直が大宰権少弐に任ぜられ一族の多くも大宰府の要職をしめて勢威をほこったが，平氏滅亡とともに没落した。
