Yuki

Japanese: 油木 - ゆき
Yuki

The former name of a town (Aburagi-cho) in Jinseki-gun, eastern Hiroshima Prefecture. It is now a district in the eastern part of Jinsekikogen-cho. The former Aburagi-cho was incorporated as a town in 1917 (Taisho 6). In 1955 (Showa 30), it merged with parts of Ono and Shinsaka villages, and in 1956 with Senyo village. In 2004 (Heisei 16), it merged with Jinseki-cho, Toyomatsu village, and Sanwa town to form Jinsekikogen-cho. National Route 182 runs through the town. It is located at an altitude of about 500 meters on the Aburagi Plateau, which occupies the central part of the Kibi Plateau. It is known for raising Jinseki cattle, and konjac and shiitake mushrooms are thriving in cultivation. There is a campsite on Senyo Plateau. Shimo-Taishakukyo Gorge in the north is a cliff formed by erosion of limestone, and is included in the Hiba-Dogo-Taishaku Quasi-National Park. The grove of the Yuki-Tsurukame-Hachiman Shrine is a prefectural natural monument.
