Port of Eunostos - Eunostos Port

...The royal palace, government offices, and academies were concentrated in the Bourkeion district in the western half, while many Jews lived in the eastern area, forming the fourth district. The island of Pharos, located in front of the city, was connected by a large jetty (heptastadion) about 1.3 km long, creating an artificial bay on both sides. The island had a double port with the Great Port on the east side and the Port of Eunostos (which also housed the fleet facility, the Kivotos anchorage) on the west side, but the roles of the two ports are reversed today. At the eastern end of Pharos Island stood a large stone lighthouse about 110 meters high (completed around 279 BC, by Sostratos), which was counted as one of the seven wonders of the ancient world, but it collapsed in 1326, and the 15th century fortress of Qait-Bai now stands.
