A nuclear reactor in which fuel assemblies are placed inside long, thin tubes called pressure channels, and heat is extracted by circulating coolant inside the tubes. This type of reactor is used in the Canadian Heavy Water Reactor (CANDU reactor), Russia's graphite-moderated boiling light water pressure tube reactor (RBMK), and Japan's Advanced Thermal Reactor Fugen.
