The Fall of the House of Usher (film)

...It can be said that this is connected to the American avant-garde of the 1950s, Lionel Rogosin's "25th on the Bowery" and Andy Warhol's "Empire". In the same period, there were also "abstract films" such as photographer Ralph Steiner's "H ₂ O" (1924), which captured the light-reflecting surface of water with a telephoto lens, Charles Klein's "Betraying Heart" (1928), James Sigley Watson and Melville Webber's "The Fall of the House of Usher" (1928), which was in the style of "Dr. Caligari" (the term "caligarization" was also coined), the same duo's "Lot of Sodom" which had a homosexual theme that later became one of the typical themes of "underground films", and Charles Bidore's "The Bridge" and "The Spy" (both 1931-32), which put into practice the montage theory known as the "Soviet Technique". Elia Kazan and L. Jacobs, who would later become Hollywood directors, also participated in the production of Experimental Films, but when he was an assistant director, Robert Florey built The Life and Death of 9413 - Hollywood Extras (1928) for just $100 using his own garage as a set.
