According to this myth, Persephone was asleep wearing a crown of Narcissus flowers when Hades, the god of the underworld, touched her hand, and the daffodil turned into a yellow flower. Incidentally, the name daffodil comes from asphodelos, an unflowered flower that blooms in the land of the dead in Greek mythology, and therefore it has been planted in cemeteries since ancient times.
