Kamigamo Shrine
Common name for Kamo Wakeikazuchi Shrine, a shrine located in Kita-ku, Kyoto City, Kyoto Prefecture. It is Yamashiro Province's Ichinomiya. The deity enshrined is Kamo Wakeikazuchi no Mikoto. It possesses many cultural properties, including the main hall and secondary hall, which are national treasures. It is registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site as part of the "Cultural Assets of Ancient Kyoto." The annual festival in May, the Kamo Festival (Aoi Festival), is famous.
