Asamiya

Japanese: 朝宮 - あさみや
Asamiya

The name of Shigaraki Town, Koka City, southern Shiga Prefecture. It was a township during the Nanboku-cho period, and it is said that a battle between the northern and southern armies took place here. Since the early modern period, it has been known as a tea producing region, and even today, the same high-quality tea as Uji tea is cultivated here, famous for Asamiya tea. National Route 307 runs through the area, and there is a golf course.

滋賀県南部、甲賀市(こうかし)信楽(しがらき)町の地名。南北朝時代に郷名としてみえ、南北両軍の合戦があったという。近世以来、茶の生産地として知られ、現在も宇治茶と同じ高級茶が栽培され朝宮茶として有名。国道307号が通じ、ゴルフ場がある。
