Year of death: March 25, 1512 (April 11, 1512) Year of birth: Bunmei 5 (1473) A feudal lord of Echizen (Fukui Prefecture) during the Sengoku period. Son of Ujikage. Danjo Saemon-no-jo. He inherited the family headship at the age of 14 in Bunmei 18 (1486), and with the guardianship of his paternal uncle, Jishiin Kokyu, he achieved success in stabilizing the control of the domain. He won a lawsuit against the Shiba clan over the control of Echizen in 1487 and escaped from the relationship of master and vassal, and in Bunki 3 (1503) he put down a rebellion by a member of the Shiba clan, Asakura Kagetoyo. Furthermore, in 1506 (Eisho 3), he repelled a large army of invaders from the Kaga Ikko Ikki and established control over the domain. The "Nobutanekyo-ki" tells us that his talent for painting was heard by the emperor. He died suddenly on his way to a falconry, and Tenzawa-ji Temple (now located on the site of Higashi-Shinmachi, Fukui City) was built on his death site by his son Takakage.
