Kyoko Asakura

Japanese: 朝倉響子 - あさくらきょうこ

1925－ A sculptor from the Showa-Heisei era.
Born on December 9, 1925. Her father is Asakura Fumio. Her elder sister is Asakura Setsu. She was first selected for the Shinbunten Exhibition in 1942. She was awarded the special prize at the Nitten Exhibition four times after the war. In 1960, she participated in the formation of the contemporary sculpture group. She won the Nagano City Outdoor Sculpture Award in 1979 and the Nakahara Teijiro Award for Excellence in 1982. She pursues sophisticated images of young girls and women. She was born in Tokyo. Her real name is Kyoko. Her works include "NIKE".

大正14年12月9日生まれ。父は朝倉文夫。姉に朝倉摂(せつ)。昭和17年新文展に初入選。戦後日展の特選を4回受賞。35年集団現代彫刻の結成に参加。54年長野市野外彫刻賞,57年中原悌二郎賞優秀賞受賞。少女やわかい女性の洗練された像を追求。東京出身。本名は矜子。作品に「NIKE」など。
