Based on the legend of King Arthur, a Celtic Briton, this is a masterpiece of medieval chivalric tales. King Arthur was a powerful king who ruled Britain in the 5th and 6th centuries, and is said to have conquered all four sides and even attempted to march to Rome. The story originated in Wales, was written in northern France in the 12th century, and later spread from Britain to the rest of Europe.
