A regional brand of the Kinki region, Hyogo prefecture. It is produced in Ako City. It was founded by Naka Kojima in 1849 (Kaei 2). It flourished from the Meiji period to the Taisho period, but stopped once the Showa period began. After that, in 1999 (Heisei 11), an association was established to carry on the Ako Dantsu tradition, and efforts are being made to pass on the techniques. It is a traditional craft of Hyogo Prefecture.
