...In Edo, the Kanda Aqueduct was opened in 1590 (Tensho 18), and the Tamagawa Aqueduct in 1653 (Shoo 2), and plans for a water supply were underway to accompany the construction of the Edo castle town. In Fukui, the Shibahara Aqueduct was completed in 1606 (Keicho 11), and in Ako, construction of the Ako Waterworks began between 1614 and 1616 (Genna 2), and was developed in conjunction with the expansion of the castle town after the Asano clan entered the area in 1645 (Shoho 2). In Yonezawa, waterworks facilities were also developed between the Genna and Kanbun periods. ...
