...In the past, such individual health checkups were distinguished from group health checkups, and the latter were called mass examinations, but nowadays the term health checkup refers to mass examinations, and the two are often used synonymously.

The groups that are the subject of health examinations are either social groups (what R. M. McIver calls associations) or non-social groups (aggregations). The former are places of business, government offices, schools, neighborhoods, households, etc. (or the social groups within them).
