Born in 1602. He was adopted by his maternal grandfather, Ando Shigenobu, and served Tokugawa Hidetada and Iemitsu. In 1623, he succeeded him as head of the family, becoming the second lord of the Ando clan in Takasaki, Kozuke (Gunma Prefecture). He served as the head clerk of the study, temples and shrines magistrate, and musician. In 1626, he was placed in the care of Tokugawa Hidetada's son, Tadanaga, but the following year Tadanaga committed suicide. He died on September 29, 1603. He was 58 years old.
