The population is concentrated in the south, near the coast, including the capital, Accra, and the second largest city, Kumasi. The five southern states are inhabited by people who speak a Kwa language, such as the Akan, Ewe, Nguan, Gan, and Adangme. The Akan are the most dominant tribe, and include the Ashanti, Akim, and Fanti.
