...It was published 365 days a year in 44 cities, including Moscow, and had a circulation of about 10.2 million copies (1983), making it one of the world's largest newspapers and one of the most important newspapers, along with the government-run newspaper Izvestia. Its publisher, the Pravda Publishing House, was the oldest publishing house belonging to the Communist Party of the Soviet Union, and in addition to Pravda, it published newspapers such as Komsomolskaya Pravda and Rural Life, theoretical magazines such as Problems of Philosophy and Problems of History, and general magazines such as Krokodil and Ogonyok, making it a powerful presence among Soviet publishing houses. However, in the late 1980s, during the perestroika process, Pravda's circulation decreased, and after the failure of the conservative coup in August 1991, it was suspended. At the end of the same month, it broke with the Communist Party and resumed publication as a centrist newspaper, but was suspended in March 1992 due to financial difficulties. ...
