〘Noun〙 (also "jikyousha") A Buddhist term. A person who always recites sutras. Generally, it refers to a person who always upholds, recites, and accepts the Lotus Sutra. ※Ryōiki (810-824) Vol. 1 "One should not slander those who hold the sutra ." ※Shunshōbono Shōhon Makura (end of the 10th century) Vol. 77 "Rather than a single sutra holder (chikyūsha) reciting the sutra, it is more admirable to see a large number of people reciting the sutra at set times."
