Agataiha - Prefecture

A school of Japanese classics and waka poetry. "Kamomabuchi" was the family name of the Edo period scholar of Japanese classics Kamo no Mabuchi (1697-1769), and was also used as a pen name, so the school of scholarship and waka poetry centered around Mabuchi is called the Kamomabuchi school. Mabuchi explained the ancient ways based on ancient classics such as the Manyoshu, the Kojiki, and Norito (prayer prayers), and advocated writing poetry in the Manyo style. He left behind many works such as Manyo Ko and Goiko (Kokuiko, Utaiko, and others), and also a collection of poems and essays called Kamo no Okeshu. These are considered the basis of the Kamomabuchi school, and the Kamomabuchi school's characteristics are its ancient ways of thinking, Manyo studies, and writing poetry in the Manyo style. In later generations, in waka poetry, it formed one of the two major schools, opposing the Keien school, which was based on the ancient and modern styles. Representative figures include Motoori Norinaga, Itori Uohiko, Kato Chikage, and Arakida Hisaoyu.

国学、和歌の流派。「県居」は、江戸時代の国学者賀茂真淵(かもまぶち)（1697―1769）の屋号で、雅号としても用いられたところから、真淵を中心とした学問や和歌の流派を県居派という。真淵は、『万葉集』や『古事記』、祝詞(のりと)など、古代の古典に拠(よ)って古道を説き、万葉調の作歌を唱導した。『万葉考』や「五意考(ごいこう)」（『国意考』『歌意考』ほか）など多くの著作を残し、歌文集『賀茂翁家集』もある。これらが県居派のよりどころとされ、古道思想と万葉研究、万葉調の作歌が県居派の特色である。和歌では後世、古今主義の桂園(けいえん)派と相対して、二大潮流をなした。本居宣長(もとおりのりなが)、揖取魚彦(かとりなひこ)、加藤千蔭(ちかげ)、荒木田久老(ひさおゆ)らが代表的である。
