...Due to the sedimentation of the Takahashi River, Sasagase River, Asahi River, and Yoshii River, Kojima was connected to the mainland in the early modern period, and the west side became Achigataka Lagoon, and the east side became Kojima Bay. The bay was reclaimed from the north shore, and large-scale reclamation projects include Okishinden in the 17th century, Kojoshinden in the 19th century, Fujita Reclamation (Fujita Farm) by Fujita Group in the Meiji period, and Districts 6 and 7 after World War II.
