A treaty on trade between Japan and Korea established in 1443 (3rd year of Kakitsu) between Sadamori So, the lord of Tsushima Island, and the Yi Dynasty of Korea. In Korea, it is called the Kigai Treaty. After the Oei invasion, trade between Tsushima and Korea was temporarily suspended, but King Sejong's policy of peaceful trade led to the establishment of numerous trade control regulations, including the Kakitsu Treaty. The contents of the treaty included: (1) the So clan, the lord of the island, could send 50 ships to Korea every year, and (2) the So clan was given a total of 200 koku of rice and beans as annual gifts, which had been implemented since the 10th year of King Sejong's reign (1428). This treaty was an attempt by the Korean side to control trade between Japan and Korea, but it also established the system of the So clan's annual dispatch of ships, and established the So clan's exclusive position in trade with Korea.
