Whisky is also broadly divided into four types: Scotch, Irish, American, and Canadian, each of which has its own unique qualities depending on the ingredients and production method. The spelling of whiskey can be either whisky or whiskey, with Scotch, Canadian, and Japanese spelling it whisky, while Irish and American use whiskey.
