...A disease characterized by the occurrence of numerous copper-colored, itchy, disc-shaped dermatitis lesions about the size of a 10-yen coin, with clear borders. As the name eczema suggests, scratching causes blisters in the epidermis to burst and ooze. Most cases of this disease are caused by allergic contact dermatitis, and metal allergens such as hexavalent chromium ion Cr ⁶⁺ , nickel ion Ni ²⁺ , and cobalt ion Co ³⁺ are well known to be the cause. There are also cases in which essential oils and hydroxycitronellal in soap are thought to be the causative allergens. ...
