Great Nanban Giseru - Great Nanban Giseru

An annual plant of the Orobanchaceae family (APG classification: Orobanchaceae). It parasitizes on Carex moniliformes and C. japonica, and blooms from July to September. Compared to C. moniliformes, it is larger overall, has a pale pink-purple color, has no stripes, and has a blunt, pointed calyx tip. The edges of the corolla lobes have fine teeth. It is distributed in Honshu, Shikoku, Kyushu, and even Chugoku.

ハマウツボ科(APG分類:ハマウツボ科)の一年草。ヒカゲスゲやノガリヤスなどに寄生し、7~9月に花を開く。ナンバンギセルに比べ全体が大形で、淡紅紫色を帯び、線条がなく、萼(がく)の先は鈍くとがる。花冠裂片の縁(へり)に細歯がある。本州、四国、九州、さらに中国にも分布する。
