Kanchiin Temple

Japanese: 観智院 - かんちいん
Kanchiin Temple
This temple is a sub-temple of Kyoogokokuji Temple (Toji Temple) in Minami Ward, Kyoto City, and served as a Shingon sect educational institution. The guest hall was clearly built in 1605, according to the building plaque and ink inscription. It is well preserved and is a valuable vestige that shows the typical style of guest halls from the Momoyama period, and is a national treasure.

京都市南区にある教王護国寺 (東寺) 内の子院で,真言宗の勧学院の役割をもった寺院。客殿は棟札や墨表により慶長 10 (1605) 年の建立が明らかである。保存もよく,桃山時代の典型的な客殿形式を示す貴重な遺構で,国宝。
