A town in Katsuura County in eastern Tokushima Prefecture. Occupying the middle reaches of the Katsuura River and the surrounding mountainous areas, the town was formerly the town of Yokoze, a settlement at the mouth of the valley that was the terminus of boat transport. Mandarin orange cultivation is popular, and shiitake mushrooms and vegetables are also grown in greenhouses. Temple number 20 of the 88 Shikoku temples, Kakurin-ji Temple, is located here.
