...He is known as an archaeologist of the Vienna School influenced by the cultural-historical ethnology led by W. Schmidt, and was taught by Masao Oka and Eiichiro Ishida. His book "Weltgeschichte der Steinzeit: A World History of the Stone Age" (1931, only the first half of which was translated by Masao Oka, published in 1943) is a masterpiece that is the first to comprehensively compare and examine the world's stone-age cultures using ethnological and cultural-historical methods.
