Gauss meter

It is a type of magnetometer that is a measuring device that simply measures the magnetic flux density between the poles of a magnet, etc. The CGS electromagnetic unit of magnetic flux density is the gauss (G), hence the name. The unit of magnetic flux density in the International System of Units is the tesla (T = 10 ⁴ G). Many of them use the Hall effect as their principle. The measurement probe that is inserted into the magnetic field uses a Hall element (Hall generator) made of a thin semiconductor piece (approximately 3 x 2 x 0.2 mm) such as germanium Ge, indium antimonide InSb, or indium arsenide InAs.

磁石の磁極間などの磁束密度を簡単に測定する測定器で磁力計の一種である。磁束密度のCGS電磁単位はガウス(G)であるのでこの名前がある。なお，磁束密度の単位は国際単位系ではテスラ(T＝10⁴G)である。原理としてホール効果を用いたものが多い。磁場に挿入する測定用プローブには，ゲルマニウムGe，アンチモン化インジウムInSb，ヒ化インジウムInAsのような半導体薄片(3×2×0.2mm程度)からなるホール素子(ホール発電器)を用いる。
