It is an abbreviation of artificial silk, also known as rayon. It is a continuous thread made by chemical processing using cellulose as a raw material, and was perfected by the Frenchman Chardonnet in 1884. There are several methods for manufacturing it, including (1) the viscose method, (2) the cupric-ammonium method, (3) the acetic acid method, and (4) the nitrification method, of which the viscose method produces the most volume of production. Its performance is characterized by the fact that, because it is a homogeneous long fiber, the luster and fineness can be freely changed, it is slippery, stain-resistant, and has good dyeability. It has a wide range of uses. [Kadoyama Yukihiro] [Reference item] |Source: Shogakukan Encyclopedia Nipponica About Encyclopedia Nipponica Information | Legend |
