Small armor - Kogusoku

Japanese:
Small armor - Kogusoku

A general term for accessories to armor. Actual remains have already been found on armor excavated from ancient tombs, but this name has been seen since the Kamakura period in records and military tales, including the Azuma Kagami. The helmet, torso, and sleeves were called Mitsumono, and armor consisting of these three parts was called Yoroi, and Gusoku, which means it was a set of equipment, was called Gusoku, while Kogusoku referred to accessories such as Hatsumuri, Nodowa, Kote, Hizayoroi (Haidate), and Suneate, and later cheek guards and Wakiate were added. The Jokyu-ki states, "Moritsuna took off his armor and wore only small armor and a sword." Also, as depicted in the Shutsujinkage (Shadows of a Battle), housed in the Jizo-in Temple in Atsuta, Moritsuna was described as setting out in small armor without armor, wearing only a hitatare (a traditional Japanese robe), a side shield, and small armor.
