A former town in Takada County, central Hiroshima Prefecture. Most of the area is hilly and mountainous, with the main settlement near the confluence of the Eno River and the Tajihi River, and National Route 54 passing through the area. It is the birthplace of the Mori clan. In addition to agriculture, mainly rice farming, the town also operates forestry. There is an industrial complex. The ruins of Koriyama Castle (historic site) and the grave of Yoshikawa Motoharu, a warlord of the Warring States period, are located here. In March 2004, it merged with the towns of Yachiyo, Midori, Takamiya, Koda, and Mukaihara in Takada County to form Aki-Takata City. Area: 84.81 km2 . Population: 11,598 (2003).

Cotton textiles, Western tableware, and machinery manufacturing are thriving here. In March 2006, it was incorporated into Bunsui Town, Nishikanbara County, and Tsubame City. 32.00 km2 . 新潟県中部,越後平野の南部を占める西蒲原(にしかんばら)郡の旧町。中心の吉田は信濃川の支流西川の右岸にあり,河港,弥彦神社参道の茶屋町として発達し,越後線と弥彦線の交点をなす。綿織物・洋食器・機械製造が盛ん。2006年3月西蒲原郡分水町と燕市へ編入。32.00km2。2万4769人(2005)。
