Foreigners' Letter - Gaibantusho

This book compiles letters exchanged between the Edo Shogunate and various foreign countries in chronological order by country. The editor was Kondo Morishige (Seisai, Juzo). It was compiled during his term as the Shogunate's Book Magistrate (1808-18). It consists of 27 volumes in total, with volumes 1-5 covering Korea, volumes 6 and 7 covering Holland, volumes 8-10 covering the Ming Dynasty, volumes 11-14 covering Annam, volumes 15-17 covering Siam, volumes 18 and 19 covering Cambodia, volume 20 covering Champa and Thani (Patani), volumes 21-23 covering Luzon, volumes 24 and 25 covering Amakau (Macau), volume 26 covering Spain (Mexico), and volume 27 covering Angelia (England). It is included in "Kondo Seisai Zenshu" and "Kaishoku Shiseki Shuran."

江戸幕府が諸外国と交わした書簡を国別・時代順に編纂(へんさん)した書物。編者は近藤守重(もりしげ)(正斎(せいさい)、重蔵(じゅうぞう))。彼が幕府の書物奉行(ぶぎょう)在任中(1808~18)に成った。全27巻で、第1~5巻朝鮮、第6、7巻阿蘭陀(オランダ)、第8~10巻明(みん)国、第11~14巻安南(アンナン)、第15~17巻暹羅(シャム)、第18、19巻柬埔寨(カンボジア)、第20巻占城(チャンパ)、太泥(タニ)(パタニ)、第21~23巻呂宋(ルソン)、第24、25巻阿媽港(アマカウ)(マカオ)、第26巻新伊西把儞亜(イスパニア)(メキシコ)、第27巻漢乂利亜(アンゲリア)(イギリス)にあてる。『近藤正斎全集』『改訂史籍集覧』に収められている。
