Vorticism

Japanese: ボーティシズム（英語表記）Vorticism

An avant-garde art movement that arose in London, inspired by French Cubism and Italian Futurism. It is sometimes translated as "Vorticism." 1914 P.W. Lewis The "Bauticism Manifesto" was published in the magazine Blast by a group of artists from the "Rebel Arts Center" led by Lewis. The name "Bauticism" was coined by poet E. Pound. Participants in the movement included Lewis and Pound, as well as painters Edward Alexander Wadsworth (1889-1949), William Roberts (1895-1980), Laurence Atkinson (1873-1931), and sculptor J. Epstein. They learned from the movement of Futurism and the geometric forms of Cubism, while rejecting the impressionistic character of the former and the classical orientation of the latter, and pioneered forms with a strong sense of abstraction.
