Triad elements

…As a result, it became clear that the properties of elements are not independent of each other, but that there are various correlations between them. For example, JW Dobereiner of Germany recognized that there are many elements that show similar properties in groups of three, such as [chlorine (Cl) – bromine (Br) – iodine (I)], [calcium (Ca) – strontium (Sr) – barium (Ba)], and [iron (Fe) – cobalt (Co) – nickel (Ni)], and in 1829 attempted to classify these elements as “triad elements.” Later, Alexandre Émile Béguyer de Chancourtois of France (1819-86) discovered a new pattern, that is, that when atoms are arranged according to their atomic weight, elements with similar properties appear at almost equal intervals. Based on this, he published an original diagram, “Vis de terre,” in 1862, in which elements are arranged in a spiral around a cylinder (Figure 1). …
