For example, JW Dobereiner of Germany recognized that there are many elements that show similar properties in groups of three, such as [chlorine (Cl) – bromine (Br) – iodine (I)], [calcium (Ca) – strontium (Sr) – barium (Ba)], and [iron (Fe) – cobalt (Co) – nickel (Ni)], and in 1829 attempted to classify these elements as “triad elements.” Later, Alexandre Émile Béguyer de Chancourtois of France (1819-86) discovered a new pattern, that is, that when atoms are arranged according to their atomic weight, elements with similar properties appear at almost equal intervals.
