Japanese: キリ(切) - きり

(1) A term used in Noh. A type of chant. A piece of music with few melodies, mainly in the mid-range, consisting of 7-11 lines in a 7-5 rhythm. The opening and closing lines are usually repeated. The rhythm of the chant follows the rules of jibyou. It is placed at the end of a Noh piece as the conclusion, and contains the author's overall impressions and the shite's afterword. In some cases, the entire final part of a piece is called kiri, but in this broad sense kiri includes various chant such as uta, naka nori ji, and nori ji. [Matsumoto Yo] (2) A term used in Gidayu-bushi.

(1)能の用語。謡事の一種。七五調韻文体の7～11句から成る，中音域を主とした旋律のすくない楽曲。初句と終句は繰り返されるのが普通。謡のリズムは地拍子の法則に合う。能1曲の結語として最終末に置かれ，作者の総括的な感想やシテの後日談などを内容とする。なお，1曲の最終末部分をすべてキリとよぶ場合があるが，この広義のキリには，〈哥（うた）･中ノリ地･ノリ地〉などさまざまな謡事が含まれる。【松本雍】(2)義太夫節の用語。
