Japanese: 道中粋語録 - どうちゅうすごろく

A humorous storybook. Written by Yamanote no Bakahito (Ota Nanpo) and illustrated by Katsukawa Shunsho. Also known as "Hentou Karuizawa". Published around 1779-80 (An'ei 8-9). One volume. Based on the story in Karuizawa, a post station on the Nakasendo road. It features two prostitutes and two guests, a merchant from the Kansai region and his Edo companion, and also features a waitress born in Edo. It also depicts a pair of a local guest and another prostitute, capturing the rustic customs already featured in senryu poems and other works, and using amusing dialects extensively, giving the whole story a rustic humor.

洒落（しやれ）本。山手馬鹿人（やまのてのばかひと）(大田南畝（なんぽ）)作。勝川春章画。一名《変通軽井茶話（かるいざわ）》。1779,80年(安永8,9)ごろ刊行。1冊。中山道の宿駅軽井沢に取材したもの。2人の宿場女郎に上方の商人と供の江戸者の2人の客を配し，江戸生れの仲居女などを介在させ，さらに土地客と別の女郎の1組を描いて，すでに川柳などで取り上げられたひなびた風俗をとらえ，またおかしげな方言をさかんに使わせて，野趣に富んだ滑稽味を全編にみなぎらせている。
