A genus of Chlorococcaceae in the order Chlorococcales. Unicellular, spherical. It has one spherical or subspherical chloroplast with a central pyrenoid. Reproduction is by bitriate zoospores or immobile spores. Sometimes zoospores transform into gametes and conjugate. Sometimes they form thick-walled resting spores with orange pigments. 緑藻類クロロコックム目クロロコックム科の1属。単細胞,球形。球形または亜球形の葉緑体を1個もち中央にピレノイドがある。生殖は2毛の遊走子によるか不動胞子による。ときに遊走子は配偶子に変じて接合する。またオレンジ色の色素をもつ厚膜の休眠胞子となることもある。
