...Most of the southwestern part of the town is mountainous, part of Bandai Asahi National Park, and Asahi Onsen and Asahigawa No. 1 and No. 2 Power Plants are located in the valley. Onuma in the north of the town is a scenic spot known for Ukishima (floating island), and is on the hiking trail to Mount Asahi. Ukishima Inari Shrine is located there, which has long been the base of worship at Mount Asahi. Most of the town is covered by forests and wilderness, and the rugged terrain limits the amount of arable land available, but the main industry is agriculture, especially apple production.
